AUTRAIN TOWNSHIP, MI-- An Illinois man has been killed in an Alger County snowmobile accident.
Sheriff’s deputies say the crash happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday on Trail #7 in AuTrain Township. They say Donald Stagner, 45, of New Lenox, Illinois failed to negotiate a curve, left the trail, and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies say excessive speed is likely a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
