Investigation into Filizetti death concluded

FORSYTH TOWNSHIP, MI--   No charges will be filed in the death of a four-year-old girl at Gwinn High School.  

AmarahFilizetti was playing in the gym the morning of September 3 when a heavy safety partition fell on her.  She was treated at UP Health System Marquette, then airlifted to a Lower Michigan hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. 

Forsyth Township Police began an investigation into the incident.  They say the partition, which was constructed of wooden framing, weighed approximately 325 pounds. 

Officers interviewed school officials and others who were present at the scene of the accident.  The Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office was consulted and reviewed the investigation, but no criminal charges will be authorized.

The inquiry into the incident is now concluded.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
