Two men injured in Tilden Township accident

TILDEN TOWNSHIP, MI--   Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash in Tilden Township early Monday morning.

Michigan State Police from the Negaunee Post responded around 2:30 a.m. to County Road 581 near County Road PPR.  They say a southbound car left the roadway, rolled over several times, and hit a number a trees before it stopped. 

The occupants of the vehicle, Brian Meyers, 53, of Ishpeming and Michael Carter, 23, of Gwinn were taken to U.P. Health System Marquette for treatment of their injuries. 

Troopers believe alcohol and excessive speed were factors in the accident, which remains under investigation. 

Ely Township First Responders, the Ishpeming Township Fire Department, and U.P. Life EMS assisted at the scene.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
