Black Rocks victims identified

MARQUETTE, MI--   Officials have released the names of two people swept off the Black Rocks at Presque Isle Park in Marquette Tuesday.

City Police say they received 911 calls around 1:30 in the afternoon that a man and woman had been swept off the rocks by high waves. The park was closed to visitors at the time.

The two are identified as Robert Anderson, 53, and Sarah Hall, 37, both of Iron River.

Marquette Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene. A Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Traverse City was called up to search the waters, as strong winds and 25-foot waves made it impossible for divers to enter the lake. It searched for about three hours Tuesday, but found nothing.

The search has been suspended at this time.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
