State Leaders Launch Decal Program to Help Protect Great Lakes

Lansing, MI – State officials last week launched a new program to raise money for ecology management in the waters around Michigan. The Great Lakes Protection Fund Decal goes on sale October 1st. Proceeds from the commemorative decals will support education and research to eliminate zebra mussels and other invasive species from the lakes. The design features a leaping fish, bright sun over blue waters, and an outline of the state. Senator Jason Allen of Traverse City says the Great Lakes are one of the nation's most significant natural resources, and proper steps must be taken to ensure their protection.
