Local Radio Personality Dies at 75

Marquette, MI – Joe Blake, a long-time fixture in Upper Peninsula radio broadcasting and a voice familiar to Northern Michigan University sports fans, has died. He died Wednesday at his home, at the age of 75. Blake was the radio play-by-play announcer for NMU hockey for 19 years and broadcast the university's volleyball games. Tom Mogush was Blake's hockey broadcast partner for 15 years. He says Blake was a great man and well respected. Blake was in radio for 50 years, and was the owner and president of stations WMQT-FM and WZAM-AM.
