Ishpeming – Ishpeming Police have concluded that the deaths of two city residents was a murder/suicide. The incident occurred Wednesday shortly before noon at the Lompre residence on Jasper Street. Police received a 9-1-1 call from a man who said his wife had been stabbed and needed an ambulance. When officers arrived at the scene, 57-year-old Michael Lompre and 52-year-old Connie Lompre were found dead in the kitchen. Investigation reveals Michael Lompre stabbed his wife in the back, then retrieved a hunting rifle from the second floor of the house and shot himself in the chest. Relatives of the Lompres say Michael had had brain surgery in the past year, which may have affected him psychologically at the time of the incident.
