Hancock, MI – Finlandia University is looking for rare works of art by a famous Finnish artist from nearly a century ago. University gallery director Carrie Flaspohler says Gallen-Kallela held an art exhibition at Soumi College in 1924 and sold several of his paintings there. She says the gallery is hoping to locate as many of his original artworks as possible in the area for a future exhibition. Flaspohler says Finlandia has several prints of Gallen-Kallela's more important paintings, but asks that anyone who has or knows of an original painting sold during the 1924 art show to call her at 487-7500.
