Sault Ste. Marie, MI – Anglers anywhere in the world can see if the fish are jumping in the St. Mary's River in Sault Ste. Marie thanks to a webcam operated by Lake Superior State University. The camera is mounted underwater at the Edison Sault Electric hydro plant near a fish staging area, and broadcasts a live video stream on the university's website. LSSU Aquatic Laboratory manager Roger Greil says several fish species can be seen regularly on camera. Funding for the webcam project came from an Environmental Protection Agency grant. The site regularly receives between 3,000-5,000 hits per day.
