Houghton, MI – The city of Houghton isn't facing any significant budget problems as the new fiscal year approaches. City manager Scott MacInnes says no major cuts were made when setting the budget. He says the millage will remain the same but there will be an increase in water and sewer fees. MacInnes says with constant cutbacks in state revenues, local governments have to make sacrifices. MacInnes says the city is planning some projects that will improve the appearance of the downtown area and M-26. He says the public has not expressed any problems with the budget or plans for the coming year.
