Marquette, MI – The number of students currently enrolled at Northern Michigan University is almost identical to the same time last year. The ten-day enrollment report indicates a preliminary headcount of 9,353 students, which is 0.3 percent lower than fall of 2005. Paul Duby is Associate Vice-President of Institutional Research. He says the figures will climb throughout the semester, resulting in an increase for the ninth consecutive year.
Other preliminary data shows 79 percent of the student body is enrolled in baccalaureate programs, 54 percent are female and 7.4 percent represent ethnic minorities. Duby says, based on enrollment, the most popular undergraduate programs are nursing, art and design, elementary education, and criminal justice.
