Granholm to kick off inaugural events on New Year's Eve

By Associated Press

Lansing, MI – An interfaith prayer service in East Lansing on New Year's Eve will kick off a series of events to celebrate the start of Governor Jennifer Granholm's second four-year term. Granholm, Lieutenant Governor John Cherry and other elected officials will take their oaths of office on the Capitol steps in Lansing on New Year's Day. Ten of the thirteen scheduled events are free and open to the public, while proceeds from events in Marquette, Grand Rapids and Detroit will benefit the Governor's Mentor Michigan Initiative.
