By Nicole Walton

Toivola, MI – A Minnesota man is dead, following a snowmobile accident in Houghton County. The Sheriff's Department says the incident occurred Sunday around 2 a.m. on M-26 in Toivola. Christopher Opseth, 27, of Alden, Minnesota was southbound on snowmobile Trail 3 when he attempted to cross the highway. A northbound truck driven by William Johnson, 21, of Toivola struck Opseth, who was ejected from his sled. Opseth was taken to Portage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Johnson was not cited in the incident. Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
