UNDATED – The week of March 1st to the 7th has been declared "Weights and Measures-Balancing the Marketplace' week. The theme recognizes the role weights and measures activities have in supporting a strong economy. The Michigan Department of Agriculture's weight and measures staff work to ensure that all products sold by weight, measure, or count are accurately represented and that transactions are conducted in the spirit of fair and equitable trade. The state declaration is made in conjunction with the national recognition of the 209th anniversary of the signing of the first Weights and Measures Law in the U.S. on March 2nd, 1799.
