Negaunee, MI – The Heritage Trail project continues to progress. Three of the 48 miles are in the process of being completed. The goal of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail is to connect all surrounding communities by one long trail. Carol Fulsher is on the Board of Directors for the Heritage Trail. She says the path will be all-season, multi-use and will be great not only for recreational use, but also to show off the trails history. Funding for the trail is coming from a grant provided by the Michigan Department of Transportation totaling $400,120. The city of Negaunee also provided $100,000 to match funds for the grant.
