UNDATED – The Department of Natural Resources has named Stacy Welling Field Deputy of the Upper Peninsula. A native of Powers, Welling will begin her duties December 1st, 2008. DNR Director Rebecca Humphries is pleased to see Welling help the DNR build a stronger relationship with U.P. citizens. Humphries goes on to say Welling's experience on both the state and federal levels, along with her lifelong love of the outdoors, will help the DNR and the U.P. Welling served as the campaign manager for U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak. Welling also served as Governor Jennifer Granholm's Northern Michigan representative, working with stakeholders and individuals throughout the U.P. and Northern Lower Michigan on numerous natural resource related issues. Welling says she is honored to serve the residents of the U.P. as a liaison to the DNR and looks forward to reaching out to the individuals and organizations it serves.
