Bay Mills Township, MI – The Bay Mills Township Volunteer Fire Department in Chippewa County has been awarded the Assistance to Firefighters Grant. The $20,853 grant was awarded through the Department of Homeland Security. U.S. Senator Carl Levin says the community will benefit from the improved equipment and the fire prevention, safety, and training programs that the grant funds. U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow adds that funding will provide the courageous men and women with the tools necessary to keep themselves and their community safe.
Assistance to Firefighters Grants are awarded competitively through an application process.
