Houghton, MI – A Wisconsin man has pleaded not guilty to a charge of indecent exposure. The man, 30-year-old Troy Charlson of Madison, Wisconsin made his plea in 97th District Court in Houghton, on Friday. The charge, which is a 1 year misdemeanor, occurred on Wednesday at about 8:15pm on Michigan Technological University's campus. A female Tech student was walking toward Houghton Avenue from the J.R. Pelt and Opie Library when a white male driving a gray or silver minivan pulled up next to her and exposed himself. The student was able to get part of the man's license plate number. On Thursday a Houghton Country Sheriff's Department deputy recognized the vehicle at a Hancock business and the suspect was identified and apprehended. Charlson's bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000. A pretrial hearing was set for February 26th. As 1 part of the conditions of his bond, Charlson must stay off Tech's campus. Charlson was charged in a similar incident in Wisconsin in 2007. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
