Marquette – Two Marquette residents have been found guilty in U.S. District Court of trying to extort money from actor John Stamos.
Around 11 a.m. Thursda the case went to the jury, which took five hours to convict Allison Coss and Scott Sippola of one count each of conspiracy and two counts of extortion. They were accused of threatening to sell photos of Stamos using cocaine unless he paid them $680,000.
Sippola and Coss both face up to nine years in prison. They remain free on bond until they're sentenced October 8.
Stamos arrived at the courtroom just after the verdict was read. He thanked the court, the FBI, and the U.S. Attorney's Office for their efforts in the case. The actor also stressed that Coss' accusations of improper behavior on his part were completely untrue, and only an effort to deflect attention from the crime of extortion.
