Undated – The Catholic Diocese of Marquette has officially closed its investigation of an alleged miracle performed by Bishop Baraga.
The inquiry is a step in the process of declaring the Bishop a saint. The supposed miracle involved praying for the intercession of the "Snowshoe Priest" for a patient with a liver tumor. After placing Bishop Baraga's stole on the patient's abdomen, the tumor apparently disappeared.
A canonical tribunal has sent papers regarding its investigation to the Vatican, which will forward the matter to the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.
