Brimley woman charged in May fatalities

By Nicole Walton

Sault Ste. Marie, MI – A Chippewa County woman has been arrested in connection with a May 30 car/motorcycle accident that killed a father and his daughter.

Ashley Lynn Kreiser, 20, of Brimley has been charged with two counts of manslaughter with a motor vehicle and two counts of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of controlled substances, causing death. she's also charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.

Kreiser is accused of hitting a motorcycle driven by David Strickland, 60, of Sault Ste. Marie while he was driving in Bay Mills. Both Strickland and his passenger, Lisa Aikens, 32, were killed in the accident.

Chippewa County Prosecutor Brian Peppler says an overload of cases at the Michigan State Police Crime Lab is to blame for the delay in filing charges. He says officials had to wait for test results before they could arrest Kreiser.
