Marquette, MI – A Marquette attorney is a suspect in an embezzlement case. Tuesday James Nancarrow was charged with embezzling between $50,000 and $100,000.
Nancarrow did not show up at his arraignment, which was rescheduled for November-1st. His lawyer says Nancarrow was admitted to Northstar Health System in Iron River for an unknown medical condition.
A visiting judge from Chippewa County held a videoconference hearing and set bond at $100,000 cash surety. His lawyer says Nancarrow had given the court $10,000 cash.
This past May a civil bench warrant was issued for Nancarrow when he failed to pay more than $2,200 in parking tickets. He was arrested at the Marquette County Courthouse after he failed to show up at a hearing. Nancarrow was booked, then released, and eventually paid the fines.
