Wallace man missing in Menominee River

By Nicole Walton

Wallace, MI – Authorities are searching for a person who fell into the Menominee River in Menominee County.

WLUC TV reports search and rescue crews were called to N2100 River Drive around 11:30 Thursday night. A 48-year-old Wallace man was fishing on the bank of the river when he apparently fell in while trying to retrieve a fish.

Officials searched for the man until 3:30 Friday morning, then resumed their search at daybreak.

The Menominee County Sheriff's Department says the temperature of the water, along with its depth and speed were factors in the accident. They also believe alcohol was involved.
