State USDA Rural Development director visits U.P. projects

MARQUETTE, MI--   The Michigan Director for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development is in the U.P. this week to visit projects assisted by the agency. 

James Turner was at RMG Maple Products in Rudyard Wednesday morning and will visit the Village of Newberry Wednesday afternoon.

On Thursday afternoon Turner visits the Sawyer Wastewater Treatment Facility and the City of Ishpeming. 

Friday morning Turner will be in Manistique.

More than $28.8 million was awarded to the communities through the USDA Rural Development Business & Industry program, Water & Environmental programs, and the Community Facilities program.  

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
