LANSING, MI-- A new report indicates Michigan’s beer industry had a $10.5 billion overall economic impact in 2016.
The report by the National Beer Wholesalers Association and the Beer Institute was released Tuesday. It says Michigan beer distributors employ nearly 5,000 people and have a direct economic impact of nearly $860 million.
The entire beer industry includes brewers, distributors, and retailers and supporting industries like agriculture, transportation, and manufacturing.
President of the Michigan Beer and Wine Wholesalers Association, Spencer Nevins, says the state’s beer industry is flourishing.
