Gander Outdoors comes to Marquette

MARQUETTE, MI--   The old Gander Mountain store in Marquette is reopening as Gander Outdoors.

CNBC’s Marcus Lemonis bought Gander Mountain assets in bankruptcy court last May, and is beginning to reopen many of the chain’s stores. The Marquette location is one of eight planned to open in the state.

A grand opening event will be held Saturday at the store on US-41 West in front of Menards.

Officials say the 20,000-square-foot building will operate with more than 55 part-time employees and full-time staff.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
