Anderson charged in fatal Ishpeming motorcycle crash

ISHPEMING, MI--   The driver of a truck involved in a June 5 Ishpeming accident that killed two motorcyclists has been charged in the crash. 

Raymond Michael Anderson, 19, of Ishpeming was arraigned Tuesday on two counts of moving violation, causing death.  The charge is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine. 

Anderson is accused of turning his truck from US-41 onto Lakeshore Drive in front of a motorcycle ridden by Gary Kappler, 64, and Diane Palosaari, 52, both of the Keweenaw.  Kappler and Palosaari were killed in the crash. 

Anderson was arrested on the warrant and posted a $500 bond. 

A pre-trial conference has not yet been set. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
