Driver who caused Calumet Township crash sentenced

HOUGHTON, MI--   A reckless driver who caused a crash in Houghton County has been sentenced. 

Officials said in May Ayoub Al-Hamdan, 27, of Houghton drove over 90 mph on M-26 near Green Acres Road and crashed into a pickup truck on US-41 in Calumet Township.

Al-Hamdan pleaded no contest to misdemeanor reckless driving.  He was sentenced Monday to six days in jail or three days of community service. 

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
