NEWBERRY, MI-- All charges have been dismissed against a former employee at the Newberry Correctional Facility accused of soliciting murder.
Jason Bufford, 37, faced up to life in prison on the charge. He was arrested in March following a Michigan State Police investigation.
Judge William Carmody granted the defense’s motion to suppress statements Bufford made to troopers. He reportedly was not advised of his Miranda rights until after the interview.
Statements he made to a Department of Corrections employee were also suppressed. The employee didn’t advise Bufford of his Garrity rights.
