Involuntary manslaughter suspect in Houghton Circuit Court

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Hancock man charged in the death of his infant son last summer has been arraigned in Houghton County Circuit Court.  

Benjamin Reilly, 27, stood mute on charges of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of second-degree child abuse.  He’s also charged with breaking and entering at Finlandia University, receiving stolen goods, filing a false police report, and fleeing and eluding.  The court entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. 

A pretrial hearing will take place in January.   

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
