Reilly sentenced for son's death

HOUGHTON, MI--   A Hancock man accused of child abuse has been sentenced on the charge.

Benjamin Reilly, 27, was arrested last November in connection with the death of his two-month-old son last summer.  He pleaded no contest in January to one count of second-degree child abuse.

Reilly was sentenced in Houghton County Circuit Court to five years, 11 months to ten years in prison with credit for 113 days already served.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
