IRONWOOD, MI-- An Upper Peninsula woman has been sentenced to house arrest for four months after collecting thousands of dollars from booze makers in a rebate scam.
Carol Rae Vitton admits she created more than 700 sales receipts to get nearly $9,000 in rebates. Some checks were mailed to her at her job at the Ironwood school district.
The Ironwood woman got her sentence Wednesday, five months after pleading guilty to mail fraud.
Defense attorney Karl Numinen has said she's remorseful and will repay the money. The scheme started in September 2010 and lasted a year.
