Carll sentenced for reckless driving, causing death

ESCANABA, MI--   A Wetmore man convicted in the death of Bark River man last summer has been sentenced to prison.

Dalton Carll, 19, was convicted in April of reckless driving, causing death and three counts of reckless driving, causing serious injury to others.

The charges stemmed from a June 17th accident on Felch Grade Road near Schaffer.  Carll failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a car driven by John Miron, 29, of Bark River.  Miron was killed.  His nephew and passenger suffered a collapsed lung and injured spleen.  Two males suffered broken backs when they were thrown from the back of Carll’s pickup.

Carll was given between four and 15 years in prison on the homicide charge.  He also received 23 months to five years in prison on each of the reckless driving, causing serious injury charges.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
