Croschere to plead to unarmed robbery

MARQUETTE, MI--   A Marquette woman accused of leading police on a high-speed chase has agreed to plead guilty to unarmed robbery.

Cassie Croschere, 22, was arrested August 8 on a number of outstanding warrants after Ishpeming Police investigated a couple of drug overdose cases at a School Street residence.  Croschere allegedly fled the house in a drug-induced state, jumped into the driver’s seat of another person’s vehicle, and drove off at a high rate of speed.  Police gave chase on North Westwood Drive until her car crashed and Croschere ran into some woods.  She was apprehended shortly afterward.

Croschere was originally charged with carjacking and fleeing and eluding and faced up to life in prison.  She’s agreed to a deal where her guilty plea to unarmed robbery will carry a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

Croschere is expected to enter her plea in Marquette County Circuit Court on Friday.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
