Calumet resident receives scam phone call

CALUMET, MI--   State Police in Calumet are warning residents about a phone scam.

Last Thursday a Calumet resident received a call listed as Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.  The caller said the resident had been selected to have their debt forgiven and asked to talk to the person who paid the bills.  The caller then requested a credit card number so they could forgive the debt and told the resident to press a number on their phone to obtain incentive loans or to make payments.

The resident provided no information and ended the call.

Aspirus Keweenaw says the caller is not affiliated with the hospital.

Anyone who gets such a call is urged not to give out any information and to contact their local law enforcement agency.
