Marquette Police chase ends in vehicle crashing through guardrail

MARQUETTE, MI--   A suspect vehicle crashed down an embankment in the City of Marquette following a police pursuit Friday morning.

Around 2:20 a.m. officers observed a vehicle that was southbound on North Third Street swerving aggressively. Marquette Police tried to stop the vehicle, but it took off. The suspect vehicle eventually failed to negotiate a curve on Blaker Street and crashed through a guardrail, went down a sharp embankment, and landed in some trees.

The driver, Levi Latulip, 26, of Cooks, was arrested for operating while impaired, third-degree eluding a police officer, possession of marijuana, and resisting and obstructing police.

Only minor injuries are reported.

Both men are lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
