Police investigate stabbing in Calumet

CALUMET, MI--   A Calumet teenager has been taken into custody in connection with a stabbing incident.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched Saturday around 4:45 p.m. to a residence on Park Avenue. Deputies found two juvenile females with two young children. One of the juveniles had a large laceration on her face.

Deputies arrested a 17-year-old girl at a nearby residence.

The victim was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw, where she was treated and released.

The Laurium Police Department assisted at the scene.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
