Schoolcraft County Courthouse lawn intentionally damaged

MANISTIQUE, MI--   Police are looking for the person who damaged the lawn of the Schoolcraft County Courthouse early Wednesday morning.

Manistique Public Safety officers were dispatched to the courthouse at 5 a.m. They say someone drove onto the front lawn and intentionally spun the vehicle in circles, causing major damage to the grass.

A sign was left on the property. It indicated the suspect was upset with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, which has offices in the building.

Investigation revealed the vehicle was a full-size white Chevy Silverado crew cab pickup truck.

No one entered or damaged the courthouse itself. The building was closed for the day for investigative purposes.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
