Houghton Police nab juvenile driver of stolen Lake Linden vehicle

HOUGHTON, MI— A juvenile was apprehended after Houghton Police discovered them driving a stolen car.

Monday around 5 a.m. two vehicles were reported stolen from Lake Linden. An officer from the Houghton Police Department identified one of them on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and tried to stop the driver on M-26. The driver took off and after a brief pursuit lost control of the vehicle on Superior Road near Happapuro Road.

The juvenile from Lake Linden and a 21-year-old passenger from Calumet were arrested.

No injuries were reported.

The Hancock Police Department and Michigan Tech Public Safety assisted in the incident.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
