ISHPEMING, MI— A Champion man is jailed, after he led police on a chase from Ishpeming to Skandia.

Monday around 9:22 p.m., the Ishpeming Police Department tried to conduct a traffic stop on a black Kawasaki motorcycle near the intersection of Jasper and Summit streets. The motorcycle driver accelerated instead and fled.

Officers pursued the man through Negaunee to County Road 480, then to M-553. The chase ended on M-94 near Engman Lake Road in Skandia when the motorcyclist—a 23-year-old Champion resident—pulled over.

The man was arrested for four counts of fleeing a police officer-4th degree, reckless driving, operating a vehicle with a revoked driver's license, and operating a vehicle without security. He remains lodged in the Marquette County Jail.

The suspect’s name has not been released, pending arraignment.

Assisting in the incident were the Negaunee Police Department, Marquette County Sheriff's Office, Chocolay Township Police Department, and Forsyth Township Police Department.
