WASHINGTON, D.C. – In Wisconsin news, ‘Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding’ in Door County has made maritime history with the delivery of the largest U.S. ‘Jones Act’-compliant vessel. The 12,000 sq. ft. LNG bunker barge Progress is the third built by FBS.
LNG, the lowest carbon-based fuel currently available to maritime shipping, is reported to have 23% less greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to very/ultra low sulfur fuel oil.
Fincantieri, one of the world’s largest maritime companies, has three shipyards located in Wisconsin on the Great Lakes.
