MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the ‘Department of Military and Veterans Affairs’ as part of a pilot program supporting student veterans. The “MI-Vet Success” program will provide on-campus veterans with information, support and access to benefits to help with their transition from military to college and eventually to civilian employment.
N-M-U president David Haynes says the program is especially important in the Upper Peninsula, an area that has a high rate of military service.
As part of the program, N-M-U will also provide MI-Vet Success services to veterans at neighboring or nearby colleges and universities that have also signed on with the D-M-V-A.
The full program is expected to be in place statewide in January.
