NMU asks community to help out university-supporting businesses

MARQUETTE, MI--   Northern Michigan University has launched an effort to help local businesses affected by the COVID-1 pandemic.

#WildcatsMeanBusiness is a campaign that encourages the NMU and Marquette community to help businesses that support Northern events and programming, as well as NMU alumni-owned businesses.

Northern President Fritz Erickson says that could include buying a gift card, getting takeout for dinner, or helping businesses that are pivoting operations to support healthcare workers. A list of businesses is at nmu.edu/covid/wildcats-mean-business.

As part of the #WildcatsMeanBusiness campaign, Invent@NMU is offering free services to local small businesses. Those services include opening online sales, point of sales systems, website creation, and general marketing, among others.

For more information go to nmu.edu/invent.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
