Gwinn schools cancel Monday classes because of threat

GWINN, MI--   Gwinn Area Community Schools were closed Monday due to an alleged threat.

The threat was a report of a high school student who was supposedly bringing a gun to school. Forsyth Township Police and school administration conducted a thorough investigation. They determined the story was fabricated by the reporting student.

School officials thanked the community and parents for their patience while they worked to ensure students and staff are safe at school.

Classes in the G-A-C-S district resumed Tuesday.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
