HOUGHTON, MI— A record number of prospective undergraduates have applied to Michigan Technological University.
Tech received more than 8,800 applications for Fall 2022, up 5 percent from last year and up 30 percent from the former record set in 2019.
Officials say applications from women have increased nearly 66 percent in that time, and those from underrepresented minority groups have doubled.
Along with the College of Engineering and College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science, Tech officials say the new College of Computing is helping drive the application uptick. Applications to programs like software engineering and cybersecurity are up 40 percent in the same three-year span.
