NMU gets clean bill of financial health

MARQUETTE, MI— Northern Michigan University is in good financial standing.

An external auditing firm issued a “clean opinion” on the university’s 2021-22 financial statements. The NMU Board of Trustees approved a report on the results of the audit by Rehman at a special meeting Thursday.

Trustees also approved a resolution with the State Building Authority and State of Michigan related to NMU’s Career Tech and Engineering Technology facility. The building is being renovated with capital outlay funding from the State Building Authority of up to about $20 million dollars. The resolution includes a construction and completion assurance agreement, a conveyance of property, a lease, and an easement agreement, if necessary.

This is a procedural requirement for boards to file on State Building Authority campus projects.

Nicole was born near Detroit but has lived in the U.P. most of her life. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School and attended Michigan State and Northern Michigan Universities, graduating from NMU in 1993 with a degree in English.
