Sustainability Summit to be held at NMU in February

MARQUETTE, MI— Northern Michigan University is holding a Sustainability Summit next month.

The event kicks off February 18 at 10 a.m. in Forest Roberts Theatre with keynote speakers Chef Bryan Flower and Courtney Gallaher from Northern Illinois University. They’ll discuss their “Edible Campus” program, which addresses the fact that most of the food consumed in the state is not locally produced. NIU is addressing that by transforming parts of campus into an edible landscape.

A panel discussion on student-led sustainability efforts is scheduled for 11 a.m. in the Hedgcock Atrium, and Climate change Jeopardy will be offered at 1 p.m. in Jamrich Hall, room 1318.

A full list of activities and times is here.
