Blackboard Ultra is now Bay College's primary learning management system

ESCANABA, MI— Bay de Noc Community College has made Blackboard Ultra its primary learning management system.

Joseph Mold is Bay’s Executive Director for Online Learning and Instructional Design. He says Bay uses Blackboard Ultra to deliver all of its online courses, all of the hybrid courses, and even in face-to-face courses to post syllabi, engage students in discussions, or for students to submit assignments.

Mold says the system incorporates several types of instructional technology and contains links to materials in the public domain or under an open license, and that ties directly into Bay’s Open Educational Resource Initiative.

“We have saved students over $3 million on textbook fees from using open educational resources. So, we have over 40 classes that are using open educational resources, and students can then use these open educational resources for no cost or very low cost.”

Mold says this semester is the first that Bay is fully using Blackboard Ultra.
