Superior Watershed Partnership to introduce CEMP to public

MARQUETTE, MI--

The Superior Watershed Partnership is holding a series of town hall meetings to introduce the Community Environmental Monitoring Program.

The CEMP was created to independently monitor and assess Rio Tinto mine operations and report its findings to the public.

Partnership officials say the meetings are different from previous community forums held by Rio Tinto.  Members of the public, organizations, tribes, and other attendees will be encouraged to ask questions and recommend additional monitoring options.

The meetings take place as follows:

12/3             7 p.m. to 8 p.m.               Humboldt Township Hall

12/4             7 p.m. to 8 p.m.               Powell Township School, Big Bay

12/5             7 p.m. to 8 p.m.               Baraga Best Western Hotel

12/6             7 p.m. to 8 p.m.               Lakeview Arena, Marquette
