LANSING, MI (AP)-- The Michigan Department of Natural Resources wants the opinions of teenagers.
The DNR is inviting people, ages 14 to 18, to apply for the Youth Advisory Council on Fishing, Hunting,
Trapping and Conservation. State officials want their views on how to promote outdoor recreation and create new opportunities. Members are expected to attend at least four meetings a year, including two on weekends.
Council coordinator Ray Rustem says too many kids are growing up without any experience outdoors. Officials want to learn how to make the outdoors meaningful for young people.
Applications and common questions are available on the DNR's website, www.michigan.gov/dnr. The deadline to apply is January 18.
